Recently i went through a mental block and i found out that i couldn't write anything, this came partly because i was pushing myself beyond my limit and also find a lot of my family commitments was creeping into my creative time.
I also had a deadline to meet for an online fashion magazine that i was their faith writer, i became tired, depressed and sad. There was no one around me who understood what i was going through, there was no one to encourage me, for three 3 days i had a dark cloud over my head.
I sat down through all these and on the fourth day a verse of the scripture flashed through my head:
"to appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them a garland for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of Jehovah, that he may be glorified. Isaiah 61: 3
At that point in time, i knew that if it is going to be then it is all up to me, so i decided to shrug myself out of my frustrations and find encouragement in the Lord.
I guess it was really hard for David also in 1 Samuel 30: 6; when his own family, and possessions were also carried away, it should be bad enough. (Just imagine losing all your money in a bad investment during an economic crisis, and then your house is being repossessed because you can meet up your mortgage obligation, so u lose all your possessions, and then your family members are kidnapped in places like Aba or Port-Harcourt, and everyone around you not only didn't console you, but want to stone u to death. well you get the idea).
Imagining time like this, it should be really hopeless. But David encouraged himself in the Lord his God.
David has always trusted in the Lord; when he faced with Goliath, he was able to know that he WILL HAVE VICTORY because GOD WILL GIVE HIM VICTORY. Not at all by his own strength. David is a man after God's own heart, because he knows how to depend wholly on God.
It wasn't until when David encouraged himself in the Lord, that was when his mental block was destroyed and he knew what to do to change his situation.
Sometimes our current circumstances wants to get the best out of us, but we can become victorious by encouraging ourselves in the Lord. We can bless the name of the Lord at all times and let His praise be continually in our mouth.
When men of this world despise us despite our effort to turn our fortune around, let us make it a priority to seek God for divine direction for this will guarantee our safety and our VICTORY.
